Here is my little quilt in progress for the Doll Quilt Swap 3. There are 300 tiny pieces in the background alone, and at one point I thought I was making a big mistake as it seemed to be taking forever and I wanted to get to the applique.
I did a test run last night on my sewing machine doing applique with invisible thread and a button hole stitch, but decided it would be much nicer if I did it by hand especially with those little leaves as they need to stand out a bit more. The quilting will help but perhaps a slightly darker embroidery thread will do the trick. ANd maybe I need a leaf or two more on the bottom branch. We'll see how sick of the handstitching I get before I add more though!
I have a gazzillion embroidery threads, but unfortunately none of them where the right colours so that's a good excuse to go to the quilt shop right?

Wow that is nothing like what I thought you were going to do.....Fantastic though!!!
Really lovely, those colours are so fabulous!
Brilliant design, and so well executed! All that fiddling is worth it for results like this, isn't it?!
Joy wow that looks great
Joy, its gorgeous! Its got that beautiful lush look to it already, I can't believe how talented you are! (oh yes I can, just look at your beautiful little man!)
Seriously beautiful! Where did you get the template for the bird? Or did you make it up????
Wow Joy this is a stunner - are you sure you'll be able to part with it? All those triangles, all that work, it was most definitely worth it!
Joy - simply stunning! I love the bird.
Joy it looks lovely! Great work!
mama - I just drew the bird on paper first a few times (Austy's scrap book now has a few pages of simplified birds!) and then cut it freehand from the fabric.
Joy - that is fantastic - a lot of work to give away - but I am sure the reciever will be impressed.
Joy that is absolutely gorgeous! Your swapper is going to be very spoilt.
Wow Joy, I didn't realise how small all those blocks were until I saw this photo - Congratulations on having such patience, it has paid off as this is just adorable!!!
What a wonderful little quilt. I've been looking for those exact shades of blue and cream for a wedding ring quilt (full size - Ha). Is this is fabric collection, or can you share some of the names of the fabrics? Thanks!
Any chance you have received your quilt yet? I'm just checking in with everyone and wanted to update the list. Please let me know when you get a chance, thanks!
